For my birthday party a couple months ago I brought some disposable cameras. Yes, they still sell them! I had no idea either but they caught my eye at Duane Reade one day. Remember how great those were? I used to always bring them to parties and events and trips. But since the iPhone they've all but disappeared. And it's understandable. You can take and retake a million high quality pictures with your iPhone. But there's something magical about snapping pictures and NOT being able to immediately check them to see if your eyes are closed or if you've got a major double chin. With disposable cameras you can still get actual candids and no one can demand a retake. There's an element of surprise that is nonexistent with iPhones. I was very excited when I picked my pictures up because I had no idea what would be inside. It was so much fun. Sure they weren't perfect, and there weren't any filters or borders but they made me laugh because they were so random and imperfect. I know a switch back to these isn't realistic. But I recommend grabbing a couple for your next event. Here's a few of the highlights that are actually fit to post here. What? It was kiiind of a boozy night.
