So this year Christmas is going to be a little different. I convinced my mom and sister that we should "skip" Christmas... no gifts, no tree, no decorations, and instead fly somewhere tropical and relax for a week. They agreed (shocking, I know). So instead of regular Christmas in Atlanta, I'll be spending eight days in Puerto Rico with my mom, my sister, my brother-in-law and my boyfriend. We've rented a house (with a private pool!) on Vieques which is a small, remote island off of Puerto Rico proper. Apparently it's within walking distance to the beach. I am so excited I might pop. We booked the trip during the summer and at the time I worried that maybe by December it would fee weird and almost a little bit sad to be skipping Christmas. Not so, my friends. I've decided maybe skipping Christmas every once and awhile is a good idea. Maybe we just go through the motions because it's December and that's what we're supposed to do. And by doing this, when next year rolls around perhaps I'll be excited for Christmas and all it's sometimes ridiculous hoopla and razzmatazz. But until then, I'll be skipping most of that nonsense and will instead focus on achieving the allusive and magical winter tan.
We leave tomorrow. Have a fabulous holiday, my friends! I got nothing but love for you.
