Ain't that the truth y'all? Those friends who you can not see for extended periods of time and then when you get back together it's like old times. I am truly a very lucky lady when it comes to not only just friends, but old friends. I've known one of my best friends since birth, another since kindergarten and one since fifth grade. I regularly hang out with people I've known since high school. And I've picked up one or two lifelong friends at every job, school, trip or other meaningful event I happen to participate in. I am also the proud member of a group of college girlfriends that have gotten together for a ladies weekend every year (except for one) since graduation (which was over ten years ago! GASP). And college friends know it all, don't they? They know all of the stupid shit you did. (I'm referring to you in general because obviously I only ever made smart, sensible choices). But there's something special about those friends who you've known for many years. We don't even talk much during the year but it's always such a treat to get back together again for a few days and check in on everyone's lives. We've managed to keep this up through going back to school, new jobs, new careers, boyfriends, breakups, marriages and babies.
And wouldn't you know it, that's exactly who I'm headed to see this weekend. I'm prepared for a good amount of wine/margaritas, snacks (mostly dip based) and tons of good ol' fashioned catching up with some of my dearest friends. That's a big ol' hooray for friendship.
Especially friendship that takes places around various dips.
