Every year it's the same thing. I talk big and say I'm going to see every Oscar nominated movie and I always fall short. And by the way, this is a feat that has gotten much more difficult since they upped the number of possible nominees. There's a big difference between nine and five. So far here's how things are looking for yours truly: Done and done: Argo, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Les Miserablés, Silver Linings Playbook and Zero Dark Thirty. (Not too shabby, eh?)
I understand if you're not all about the whole seeing-every-nomination-Oscars-thing. But I have to say Argo was just plain great entertainment. And I saw Silver Linings Playbook yesterday (on a date!) and I really loved it. So, at the very least I'd recommend those two. Plus I have a crush on Ben Affleck (who doesn't?!) and wouldn't mind seeing him win an Oscar (although it would be decidedly less adorable than when he Matt Damon won for Good Will Hunting).
Now tell me, which ones have you seen? Any early favorites? Has anyone seen Lincoln? I feel like I should see it but it kind of feels like homework. But I'll try to gather the strength and gumption. Because really, this could be the year that I see 'em all. And maybe this is the year I finally have an Oscars viewing party.
Time will tell.
