I met Melinda Buie out at a birthday dinner for a common friend a couple of weeks ago. Within minutes she asked (the very hot Italian) waiter to take his shirt off. I pretty much liked her immediately. Then I find out she's a fellow West Village gal and that we're across-the-street neighbors. And as if that wasn't enough, turns out she's an incredibly talented artist. She does large scale oil paintings of cows from her family's East Texas farm, portraits of people and pets and studies in architecture. They are all gorgeous. But because I have really been wanting a dog lately (I blame my pesky uterus) the dog portraits are probably my favorites. That first dog is Franny and I actually know her. And let me tell you she perfectly captured Franny and all of her Franny-ness. Now I have dog fever because a, I want one AND b, if I get one I can also get a Melinda Buie masterpiece of my precious pretend dog's likeness. Uhoh, this could mean (dog scented) trouble.
