While we were up at the lake we tried sky lanterns. I'd seen them before on TV and in the movies but I'd never actually done one myself. We lit them from the boat out in the middle of the lake. It's very peaceful and beautiful to watch these paper lanterns slowly float up into the starry sky. We were even cheering each lantern on, hoping he/she(?) would make it higher. Wiki tells me that "it is considered good luck to release a sky lantern, and some Thais believe they are symbolic of problems and worries floating away." This makes total sense because watching each of the lanterns float away was inspirational and centering. These could be a form of therapy. It was hard to think about anything else but that moment, right then. Pretty awesome stuff, my friends.
And here's some photos of our sky lanterns, captured via my iPhone.
