Oscar Wrap Up

I enjoyed the Oscars last night, did you? I’m still in LA so earlier in the day we drove down to the Kodak theater to check out the hubbub. We got about two blocks from the theater and saw the red carpet and the tent and all that jazz. It was early though so no celeb-sightings. After our mini viewing party we drove back to the hotel and passed the Vanity Fair party. I almost barrel rolled out of the car and right into that soiree. I am sure the crowd would have loved my flip flops + Old Navy ensem. Oh well. Here are my fave looks from last night. Demi’s pinky/peachy cascading fabric confection is my absolute #1 (also, she’s 47. FTW?!). I also give high points to Meryl for choosing elegant white and let’s face it she’s pretty much perfect. And, I love the sparkly neutrals of both Helen Mirren and Miley Cyrus’ gowns. Although for the record, Miley Cyrus annoys me. What did you think of the red carpet?

For me, the highpoint of the show had to be the John Hughes montage and tribute. Loved the handful of actors who each shared a personal story of him. I thought Molly Ringwald actually looked pretty great. (But YIKES on Judd Nelson and Ally Sheedy) Here’s the montage in case you missed it. Definitely a great reminder of what an amazing talent the world lost this year.

I can’t believe that she’s 47! You go, girl! My favorites were Rachel McAdams, Anna Kendrick, and Sandra Bullock! That’s so cool that you were so close to the event!

I loved Miley’s dress also. Pretty.

Did you know that Meryl’s gown was a Chris March design?! Makes it all the better, doesn’t it?

I didn’t get to watch, only a highlight show which cut out a lot of speeches (boo!) and apparently a touching brat pack dedication to Mr. Hughes? Super pist i missed that. Loved James Taylor and cried my eyes out because he was singing “In My Life.”

Glad you’re enjoying your visit to LA and that you got to watch the Oscars (It was the middle of the night here in Israel, so I didn’t watch…)
