Blog It Forward: What inspires me?

Posted on | March 11, 2010 | 15 Comments

Yay. At long last, it’s finally my turn to take part in the ‘blog it forward‘ series set up by sfgirlbybay (who by the way is a HERO for organizing all of us crazy 300+ bloggers). What a series. Did you check out the list of participants? Lots of awesomeness. What an amazing group to keep company with, I’m honored and a little intimidated. My ‘what inspires me’ post is following a great one from Oh So Beautiful Paper and coming up after me is Once Upon a Chai Tea Latte, one blue wren and One Pearl Button. Check ‘em all out!

So, without further ado, what inspires me?

funny_women

{I hate people who say women aren’t funny. Go straight to hell, I say. Here’s six of the best: first lady of funny Tina Fey, Kaitlin Olsin (from my beloved It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), Kristen Wiig (clearly the bright, shinning STAR of SNL these days), Jane Lynch, The Office’s Mindy Kaling (also hilarious in The 40 Year Old Virgin) and the adorable Amy Poehler.}

bunting

{Fact: I’ll never get sick of bunting.}

crafty_ad

{Some amazing peeps who do this well are Michel Gondry, Angela Kohler/Ithyle Griffiths (who recently made that awesome Amazon Kindle commercial plus the new A Fine Frenzy gem) and Katie Sokoler.}

mood_boards

{I love few things more than I love a well composed wedding mood board. Here’s where I find the best ones: 100 Layer Cake and Snippet & Ink. And of course, I have to plug my own unique take on wedding mood boards here and here.

vintage_paper
{My heart flutters for vintage-y goodness and I love Parcel in Montclair, NJ, found paper co. and this awesome flickr set}

*Note: I have lost track of where I get a lot of my images from because I have a ginormous collection in a folder on my desktop. If you know where any of these are from or if they are your images please let me know and I will link accordingly.

    Gorgeous post! I’m uber-inspired by lo-fi art direction, too, but I didn’t realize it until I read it on your list.

    I knew I was going to like your list as soon as I saw Tina Fey (I’m so glad you included Jane Lynch on that list as well. I wish she was my cool aunt or something) Awesome, awesome list! I love everything on it. The 20×200 bunting was one of my favourites.

    Hail, hail to the queens of comedy! All yours most-excellent, and most-accurate, selections since they represent this discerning funny fan’s round table of television comedy.

    Also, your mention of crafty, lo-fi art direction made me think of an artist I’m working with on a paper sculpting workshop at work – http://www.meganbrain.com. Her next-level origami work has been transformed into part of the not-so-lo-fi attraction “World of Color” opening soon at Disney’s California Adventure – meganbrain.blogspot.com/2009/08/press-release-for-disneys-world-of.html
