Happy Birthday to Me

Well not to me exactly, but to Old Sweet Song. I started this blog a year ago. Well almost a year ago, it was a year ago on Thursday, but in all the craziness of packing and then flying halfway around the world and then having a whole day disappear, I sort forgot to post this. But that’s all semantics, the fact is it’s been a year since I wrote my first post. Here’s what it said:
Welcome to my world.
I’ve decided to sort of make this blog up as I go along. I’m a girl who is in love with all things crafty, artsy, DIY, etc. I like baking and cooking. I like vintage things. I like paper and art supplies, I like things from the south. I like collections. I like projects. I like activities. I like festivities. I’m in awe of people who make beautiful things. I hope to be one of them some day.
The first post is the hardest. I’m not quite sure what I’m doing. But, I’m a smart cookie so I’ll figure it out along the way. This will be a place where I show you stuff I love, show you things I’ve made/am making, and perhaps my journey as I figure out what I want to do with my life.
The name of my blog (and hopefully my own store/company someday) is a lyric from the great song “Georgia on My Mind.” I was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia and it is always near and dear to my heart.
“Just an old sweet song, keeps Georgia on my mind.”
So, without further ado, here we go…
I love writing this blog, I love sharing things here, I love that there are people who actually read it, and I love the amazing and creative blogger community that I am now a part of. I’ll be putting together TWO special care packages as a little thank you to my readers. Leave a comment about your favorite part of Old Sweet Song and you could be one of the lucky recipients. Happy birthday! I never read your first post, as I’ve only come to know your blog a few months ago, so I didn’t even know it was named out of a line from that song, which BTW, I love that song “Georgia on my mind…”

I love the variety here! There’s recipes, DIY projects you do for your home, pretty pictures, flashbacks to old school movies and games, cute etsy goodies, interviews with other bloggers, music, and on and on! It’s all great, so keep doing what you’re doing.
